Countertop Replacement Cost

Usually, when you have lived in a house for a long period of time when it comes to home improvement projects one of the first projects considered is replacing the countertops. It is either in the kitchen or the bathrooms. The reason for the kitchen is because of all the use the kitchen countertops get while your family is growing. Typically, you start in your first home where the top of the line countertops is not put in and as your family grows so does the children. This is also where everyone learns how to cook and how to make their own meals and sometimes crafts are done on the countertops. With this being said, the kitchen countertops are the first to show the wear and tear of the family use and abuse.

The kitchen countertops are the easiest thing to replace and it shows immediate improvement and adds a quick freshness to the home. Add a coat of paint and it is almost a brand new room. If you were to continue with brightening the ceiling and possibly updating the appliances or floor then you would have remodeled the whole kitchen. The kitchen is considered the heart of the home and is the room that everyone comes together in and communicates in as the diner is prepared or notes are written.

It can average anywhere from a few hundred if you were to replace the countertop yourself to a couple of thousand dollars if you had a professional contractor come in and provide you an estimate of the project to be completed. If you have a company come in then have at least two to three estimates given to you. If this is a project that you know you can do yourself then you know that it will be done in stages and will most likely be done on weekends. The first weekend you will take measurements and go pick out a pattern or new countertop that you want to see in your home. The next weekend you will remove the old countertop and cleanup as you go so you will not feel overwhelmed and in control of the project. The next day is when you will put in the new countertop and apply the adhesive and sink to the countertops so give it a chance to settle.

The days following or next weekend you will be continuing with the final touches to the project. If you are comfortable with do it yourself projects and have someone to help you with the weight of the countertop then this would not be considered a hard job and could save you some money. If you want the job done quickly, warranted and have someone else responsible for the cleanup the go with a professional company will be the avenue you will want to choose. Let Sear's be one of the companies to provide you an estimate on the project.
